Cookie Policy
Last updated: February 2026
1. What This Policy Covers
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used across The SEN Advocate website and portal, including browser local storage entries that support sign-in and preference handling.
2. Essential Authentication and Security Cookies
These cookies are required for account and platform security:
- `accessToken`: short-lived authentication cookie used for signed-in requests.
- `refreshToken`: longer-lived cookie used to renew authenticated sessions.
- `_csrf`: signed CSRF cookie used with request headers to protect state-changing API requests.
3. Local Storage Entries
We also use browser local storage for service operation and preference persistence:
- `auth-storage`: stores minimal client auth state to support portal UX.
- `auth-logout-at`: used to coordinate logout state across tabs.
- `senadvocate-cookie-consent`: stores your cookie banner choice.
4. Analytics and Measurement
Where configured for a deployment, we use Plausible analytics to record pageview events. Plausible is designed to be privacy-friendly and may operate without traditional tracking cookies, depending on deployment and browser behavior.
We display a cookie banner and store your choice in local storage so the prompt is not repeatedly shown.
5. Third-Party Technologies
Some features load third-party scripts or endpoints that may set their own cookies or equivalent identifiers, including:
- Cloudflare Turnstile (anti-bot verification on selected forms and forum actions);
- Plausible script delivery and analytics endpoints (when enabled);
- CDN-hosted PDF.js resources for in-browser document preview in portal/admin tools.
6. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies via browser settings (block, delete, or clear site data). If you disable essential cookies, sign-in, portal messaging, and other secure features may not function correctly.
You can clear local storage entries through your browser's site data controls.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in technology, law, or service configuration. Updates are posted on this page with a revised date.
